The latest stable version of Google Chrome has been updated to 20.0.1132.57 for Windows, Mac, Linux, and Chrome Frame. Along with some security fixes, this build contains an update to Flash player, v8 ( and couple of stability/bug fixes.

Install or Update the latest stable google chrome in Ubuntu:

  • 1.) For a fresh installation, download .deb package of chrome:

    Download Google Chrome

    Then install the package. It’s recommended that use this command to install the .deb (Ctrl+Alt+T to open terminal):

    sudo dpkg -i ~/Downloads/google-chrome-stable_*.deb
    sudo apt-get -f install
  • 2.) If you have an old chrome installed, use this method to update:
    • Install Synaptic Package Manager from ubuntu-software-center, or using:
      sudo apt-get install synaptic
    • Launch Synaptic Package Manager, and search google-chrome. In the picture, it said that current installed version is 19.0.1… and latest is 20.0.113…
    • Just right-click and select “Make for Upgrade”, then click Apply.
