This simple tutorial is going to show you how to add ‘Search in Google’ support for selection text in Gnome terminal. This is an idea from ubuntu-tweak blog. But Ubuntu Tweak has changed a lot, and I can’t find this feature from it in Ubuntu 12.04. Fortunately, Tualatrix Chou is still keeping this hack and providing the packages in his personal ppa.

Install Gnome Terminal with Google Search support:

The ppa now supports Ubuntu 12.04, 11.10, 11.04, 10.10, and 10.04. As the PPA description said, use it for your own risk!

Launch a terminal window from the dash or press Ctrl+Alt+T. Copy and paste this command into terminal and hit enter to add the ppa:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:tualatrix/personal

Then update and install:

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install gnome-terminal
