RhythmCat is written with language C, depends on GTK+-2.0(>=2.14) Gstreamer-0.10 Gstreamer-plugins-base-0.10 Gstreamer-plugins-good-0.10 (Gstreamer-plugins-bad-0.10 and Gstreamer-plugins-ugly-0.10 are needed to play some Restricted Format, like MP3, etc.)


Download and double click to install the deb package from here.

Alternatively, install manually with following steps:

1.) Download the source codes of latest version using SVN:

svn checkout http://rhythmcat.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/ rhythmcat-read-only

2.) Install required compiling tools:

sudo apt-get install build-essential libgtk2.0-dev libgstreamer0.10-dev libgstreamer-plugins-base0.10-dev

3.) Install Gstreamer Bad & Ugly plugins for MP3 or other Restricted Format:

sudo apt-get install gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly

4.) Then you can try to compile it:

 sudo make install
