Install Skype 2.1 beta on Ubuntu

Skype is a software application with that you can chat away with free Skype-to-Skype calls and never worry about cost, time or distance.Share the love and get your friends to download Skype so you can talk, instant message (IM) or make video calls for nothing. You can also make calls to phones and mobiles at home and abroad at great rate too.
Skype 2.1 has many new features(here for more):
- High Quality Video support.
- Skype’s SILK audio codec.
- PulseAudio support.
- SMS sending support.
- Chat messages editing/removing support.
- Contact groups support.
- Typing notification in chat.
- Chat picture support (add/change/remove) for group conversations.
- Mood messages are visible in contact list and tooltip.
- Video/Mobile icons are visible in contact list.
- Bookmarked Chats are visible in contact list.
- Contact labels/tags.
To install skype
The Skype 2.1 is a beta version and only download for ubuntu 8.04 or 8.10,click here to download.
Remove the old version,if you have installed skype:
sudo apt-get autoremove skype skype-common
Then,run this command to install:
sudo dpkg -i skype-ubuntu-intrepid_2.1.0.47-1_i386.deb(change the package name to you downloaded)
