Rainlendar is a customizable calendar application which stays out of your way but keeps all your important events and tasks always visible on your desktop. This simple tutorial is going to show you how to install in on Ubuntu 12.04 desktop.

Install Rainlendar in Ubuntu:

Rainlendar’s website provides .deb packages for Ubuntu/Debian, it can be installed on Ubuntu 11.04, 11.10, 12.04 and 12.10.

Download Rainlendar Lite for free:

Rainlendar Lite 32-bit
Rainlendar Lite 64-bit

Go to the Home Folder -> Downloads, double click on the downloaded package. It’ll bring up Ubuntu Software Center. Click Install button to install it. Once installed, launch from the dash:

Make Rainlendar automatically start at login:

Move to top right corner, choose Startup Applications… in the session menu. click Add to add it as startup application, see the picture:

Rainlendar will auto-start at next login.
