Marlin is a sleek and fast GTK3 file manager for GNOME written by: ammonkey, Lucas Baudin, Mathijs Henquet, Robert Roth, Vadim Rutkovsky, and Rico Tzschichholz.

Marlin is well-designed with a focus on speed, simplicity, ease of use. It’s been adopted into the family of elementary apps and technologies and will be included in elementary OS as a first-class citizen.

Marlin is an open source project and everyone is free to do whatever they want with the source code as long as they respect the licences.

Install Marlin from Marlin Daily PPA:

The “marlin-devs” team created a ppa for daily build of Marlin. So far, it publishes packages for Ubuntu 12.04 Precise and 11.10 Oneiric. Run following commands to add this ppa and install Marlin.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:marlin-devs/marlin-daily
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install marlin
