Kazam is a simple screen recording program that will capture the content of your screen and record a video file that can be played by any video player that supports VP8/WebM video format. Kazam is available in Ubuntu universe repository, it’s the stable 1.0.6. The development version has reached 1.3.99 with python 3 supported and a lot of bug fixes. If you want to try the latest version and keep up-to-date, you can install it from the unstable ppa.

To get started, hit Ctrl+Alt+T to open a terminal window. Then copy and paste following commands and hit enter to run one by one.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kazam-team/unstable-series

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install kazam

So far, this ppa supports for Ubuntu 13.04 Raring, Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal, Ubuntu 12.04 Precise.

Once installed, search for and open Kazam from the Unity Dash.
