Gnome Pie, a pie menu launcher for Linux, now is at version 0.6.5. Ubuntu users can install it from the developer’s PPA.

Gnome Pie is inspired by an addon written for the game World of Warcraft. It is made of several pies, each consisting of multiple slices. The user presses a key stroke which opens the desired pie. By activating one of its slices, applications may be launched, key presses may be simulated or files can be opened.

The most recent 0.6.5 version was released with new features and bug fixes:

  • Added possibility to select slices by typing their names.
  • Its now possible to position each theme layer (icons, files and slice caption) relative to their centers with a x-offset and a y-offset
  • Fixed hard to read text when displaying slice hotkeys for some themes.
  • Translation updates

And it’s available in the developer’s PPA for Ubuntu 15.10, Ubuntu 15.04, Ubuntu 14.04 and their derivatives (e.g, Linux Mint 17.x, and elementary OS Freya).

To Add the PPA, open terminal from app launcher and run below command:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:simonschneegans/testing

After adding PPA, run commands to reload system package cache and install the launcher:

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install gnome-pie

For those who don’t want to add PPA, grab the .deb package from this page.
