Gnome-activity-journal is the graphical user interface for Zeitgeist,a tool for easily browsing and finding files on your computer. It keeps a chronological journal of all file activity and supports tagging and establishing relationships between groups of files.


First install Zeitgeist from PPA with following command in Applications->Accessories->Terminal:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:zeitgeist/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install zeitgeist zeitgeist-core

Then download Gnome Activity Journal 0.5.deb and use sudo dpkg -i packagename to install (or double-click to open with GDebi Package Installer).

Now,start Gnome Activity Journal from Applications->Accessoires->Activity Journal.
If Gnome Activity Journal won’t start up,try:

zeitgeist-daemon --quit
zeitgeist-daemon &
