Deskbar Applet is one of the most useful utilities in ubuntu which provides an ability to search programs, dictionary, files, address book,Yahoo, web history, and so forth in your computer.
To install the Deskbar, run following command in terminal:

Right click anywhere on panel and select ‘add to panel’,
Find the Deskbar and click on Add button
Using deskbar to search something like this.

I am using Ubuntu 9.10, I followed your instructions and I can’t find it on my gnome-panel anywhere. It has a “Search for files” applet, but have been unable to bine “Deskbar” applet. Have you heard of anyone else having this in Ubuntu 9.10?

that was “find’ not ‘bine”
