In a fresh Ubuntu installation, you may prefer using adobe reader to handle pdf files. Here’s how to install adobe reader on ubuntu 12.04 using Canonical Partners repository.

Install Adobe Reader:

    1. Enable Canonical Partner Repositories.

    • Launch Ubuntu Software Center, head to Edit -> Software Sources.

    • Under Other Software tab, tick on Canonical Partners

  • 2. Update software sources

    Launch a terminal by search terminal from the dash home, or press Ctrl+Alt+T. Then execute this command to update software sources:

    sudo apt-get update
  • 3. Install Adobe Reader from Ubuntu Software Center.

    Launch Ubuntu Software Center, search and install acroread

  • 4. Now you can launch adobe reader from the dash home
