The Mobile Media Converter is a free video and audio converter for converting between popular desktop media formats like MP3, wma, ogg, wav, MPEG, AVI, wmv, flv, mov and commonly used mobile devices/phones formats like AMR audio (amr) and 3GP video. iPod/iPhone and PSP compatible MP4 video are supported. MMC only provides 32-bit deb package for Ubuntu Linux, this simple tutorial shows how to install mmc in a 64-bit Ubuntu.

First, add Medibuntu’s repository to Ubuntu by the commands in Applications -> Accessories -> Terminal:

sudo wget --output-document=/etc/apt/sources.list.d/medibuntu.list http://www.medibuntu.org/sources.list.d/$(lsb_release -cs).list && sudo apt-get --quiet update && sudo apt-get --yes --quiet --allow-unauthenticated install medibuntu-keyring && sudo apt-get --quiet update

then install the required package:

sudo apt-get install mencoder ia32-libs

Now, download the Mobile Media Converter from : http://www.miksoft.net/mobileMediaConverterDown.htm. Use this command to install the downloaded deb package:

sudo dpkg -i --force-architecture path/to/package (e.g : Downloads/mmc_1.7.0_i386.deb )

Now,Mobile Media Converter can be launched from Applications -> Sound & Video menu.
