Ubuntu 10.04 has impoved on nofitication functionality and brings a brand new Me Menu in notification area,it becomes easy to share news all the times through twitter.
There are two default keyboard shortcuts:one is Super+S for the “session” of Indicator Session(the other one is Me Menu),the second is Super+M for Indicator Message.

So there are the problems:
1.do anybody use Session to shutdown/logout often than renew twitter with Me Menu? And we need to press Super+S and then use left-arrow key to navigate to Me Menu if the answer is no.
2.Some use Compiz in Ubuntu desktop environment, and Super+M occupies in Compiz by default.

tualatrix did some changes on Indicator Applet and after that:

1.Press Super+S and Me Menu pop up (the shutdown/reboot/logout menu pop up in previous) with the cursor right in the text box,you can directory type and broadcast something.

2.Whenver you get a message, you can press Super+M key combination. It focus on the Message menu and show you who send the message.

To get the changed Indicator Applet:

open terminal from Applications->Accessories menu and run following commands:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:tualatrix/personal
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install indicator-applet

logout and back in.

Thanks for TualatriX for providing this.

Thanks for this. I downloaded the deb alone, didn’t want all those packages in my package management.

The indicator-applet is no longer in that repository. Does anyone know where I can still get the deb?
