This tutorial will show you how to disable global menu (app menu) in ubuntu top panel using graphical tool unsettings.

Unsettings is a graphical configuration program for the Unity desktop environment that lets you change some oft the Unity settings.

Disable Global Menu using Unsettings:

  • 1. Open terminal from the dash home or press Ctrl+Alt+T, execute this command to add ppa:diesch/testing to your repository:
    sudo add-apt-repository ppa:diesch/testing
  • 2. Update sources and install Unsettings:
    sudo apt-get update
    sudo apt-get install unsettings
  • 3. Launch unsettings and navigate to Windows tab.
    • tick off Global menu
    • click button to apply change

Changes take effect at next log in, enjoy!
