If you have a Samsung laptop running with Linux desktop system, you might have problems on controlling of the devices found on Samsung laptop.
Samsung Tools is the successor of ‘Samsung Scripts’ provided by the ‘Linux On My Samsung’ project. It enables control in a friendly way of the devices found on Samsung laptops (bluetooth, wireless, webcam, backlight, CPU fan, Fn keys) and the control of various aspects related to power management, like the CPU undervolting (when a PHC-enabled kernel is available).
The project provides a ppa repository for Ubuntu user. So far, it supports Ubuntu 13.04 Raring, 12.10 Quantal, 12.04 Precise, 11.10 Oneiric, and 10.04 Lucid.
To add the ppa repository, run following commands in terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T):
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:voria/ppa
sudo apt-get update
- Install samsung-backlight package to enable the screen backlight support for netbooks that don’t have a proper support(Support Ubuntu 12.10, 12.04, 11.10, 10.04). On Samsung NC10 it’s not needed if you are using BIOS 11CA.
sudo apt-get install samsung-backlight
- To enable full control and configuration of all devices (bluetooth, webcam, wireless, CPU fan, FN keys). Support Ubuntu 10.04 and higher.
sudo apt-get install samsung-tools
After all, reboot the system to have all changes applied.
