Compiz Experimental Plugins updated with Atlantis and 3D-Cube Model

This is a project on gnome-look.org, working for compiz 0.8.x on Ubuntu 9.10, 10.04, 10.10. This is a script that installs additional experimental plugins not provided in the official repositories. NOTE: compiz-fusion-plugins-unsupported is no longer in the official ubuntu repos as of 9.10 release. This script includes the plugins that were provided by this package. As of 10.04, compiz-fusion-plugins-extra is not installed by default so the script installs it as well.

The latest 2.2 version Added Atlantis and 3D-Cube Model.

Installation

Download the script from here. Open a terminal window do follow steps:

cd ~/Downloads

(2)

sudo apt-get install compiz-fusion-bcop compiz-dev \build-essential libtool \libglu1-mesa-dev libxss-dev \libcairo2-dev git-core

(3)

git clone git://anongit.compiz.org/users/soreau/scripts

(4)

cd scripts

(5)

./compiz-addons install all

(6)

nohup compiz --replace &

sit back and let them install it might take a while depending on your connection.

Open your ccsm and have fun !!!

To Remove all installed plugins

~/scripts/compiz-addons uninstall all

NOTE 2, I have included the script in the DL Link, along with a how to,If you should receive an error on retrieving the script from the above git repo.apparently the maintainers repo goes on and off line, and I would like every one to have the opportunity to test and have these plugins!

This is no longer working ’cause of an error that I get when I want to install these. Error: “plugins-extra package can’t be located” or something…

I have tried this in Ubuntu 11.04 64 bits but it gives a problem while running this ” nohup compiz –replace & ”

infos: I’m using vbox and I think it is related to problem !

I installed this on Mint 11 and it installed and works perfectly.A really nice piece of scripting.

Oh dear good and gentle Jesus! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU.

There are about 3 million variations of “How to get back the best things that 11.04 destroyed” and I’ve just spent 4 hours going through them all to get the one Compiz Feature that ought to be a basic inclusion in every single distro – Tiling.

I simply cannot believe that so many people are completely unaware that that ridiculously clunky thing called “Grid” is nothing compared to Tiling.

I have used the tiling add-on daily for two years and I cannot live without it.

So I just want to thank you so much for writing this script and for adding this page.

Oh thank God….you’ve no idea how happy I am.

Yes, “./compiz-addons-0.8 install all” worked for me just now, instead of what was posted originally. I have read many of these tutorials, and only that command made it work for me. Good luck.
