This simple and brief tutorial is going to show you how to easily change the tooltip background and foreground colors in Ubuntu 12.04 Unity. For a lot of apps, white text on black background looks ugly. In eclipse, tooltip with black or dark blue text on black background is even unreadable.

To change the tooltip color:

You can use Gnome Color Chooser to easily change the tooltip foreground and background. Search for and install it in Ubuntu Software Center.

Then open Gnome Color Chooser, go to the Specific tab, under Tooltips, tick on and change the foreground and background colors.

Finally, click Apply to take effect. That’s it!
