Add Trash Can icon to ubuntu desktop

If you used to be a Windows user,you may want to add a Trash Can icon to your ubuntu gnome desktop.
Press Alt and F2 key combination,type gconf-editor and press enter to open Configuration editor

At following screen click to app–>nautilus–>desktop

tick on trash_icon_visible at right side,and you will see the icon on your desktop:

This removed everything I had on my desktop, then started putting dozens of icons on my panel. I finally shut it down. I don’t know what happened to the other stuff on my Desktop.
I am using Ubuntu 10.04.

I don’t know what happened to your Ubuntu,
but you can try display those icons with Ailurus (GUI) tools.that make things easy,see:

just check or un-check the options in second picture.In addition,you should download deb package to install Ailurus in Ubuntu 9.04
